Over Dead Eggs

It’s fairly often that I make breakfast for the kids on the weekends. One of their favorite meals is over easy eggs. Usually, Jessi makes over easy eggs since I can’t seem to make them without breaking the yoke. When that happens, Jessi coined the term, “over dead eggs.”

This morning, Adya got and came over to me and said, “Daddy, can I have some over dead eggs for breakfast?”

She looked at Jessi and said, “I need 45 fingers.”

Over the years, our kids have had their own version of English it seems. Most of it has been because of their inability to pronounce some of the words. Amazingly, they still use a few of the words even though they are all more than capable of pronouncing the real words.

We received around 8 inches of snow today. Just when we thought Spring was finally here, Winter is back. I was outside with our Greyhound, Willie, while he was relieving his bladder. As a reminder to the kids, I smiled and said, “Now don’t eat the yellow snow.” Otylia turned to look at me and said, “I’m not. I’m eating the white.”

I was out walking Willie the other and Otylia decided to tag along. Apparently I was walking too fast for Otylia, and the conversation went something like this:

“Daddy, you’re walking too fast.”

“Daddy, slow down!”

“Daddy, HEEL!”

Apparently, that worked, as she was quiet after that.

Dmitri received his Arrow of Light in as a Webelos Scout last week at the Jordan Cub Scouts (Pack 332) Blue and Gold Celebration. The Arrow of Light is the highest award you can earn in Cub Scouting. The same afternoon, bridged in the Belle Plaine Boy Scout Troop (Troop 324). Our theme this year for Blue and Gold was the Chinese New Year. As usual, Jessi and I had a great time dressing the part. It was quite the learning experience for both of us as we learned about the traditions of Chinese New Year. Here’s some pictures from the day courtesy of the Soderbeck family.

A trip to San Francisco

The family recently took a short trip out to San Francisco. We needed to find some items from Chinatown for our Chinese New Year themed Cub Scout Blue and Gold Celebration. So we found a sitter for our Greyhound, packed up the family, and headed out to the Bay Area for the weekend. Below is a slideshow from the trip.

10 Years Later

We took the family to California recently, and I’ll soon have a photo album up here about it. What I’ve got as a starting point is a comparison of a photo taken of me, Jessi, and Dmitri the last time we were at the Monterey Bay Aquarium. The top photo was taken on August 16, 1997, and the bottom photo was taken on February 3, 2008. My how things have changed in the last ten years!
