Phantom Regiment 1993
| In 1993, I switched from baritone to euphonium. I also moved up from playing third part to second part. The baritone line was pretty young that year. There were twenty of us, 18 guys and 2 girls, but only two of us were age-outs (21 years old). The show in 1993 was titled “The Modern Imagination.” The show featured music from the Estancia suite, Shostakovich’s Fire of Eternal Glory, and Death Hunt. After a long, grueling, but rewarding summer, we finished with a score of 96.2 and third place at Drum Corps International World Finals in Jackson, Mississippi. |

| The snare drummers left their snares in this line during finals week while on a water break. |
| Here’s a shot of me taken the day of finals. I hit my lowest weight of my adult life so far that summer - 138 pounds. I started out the summer at around 160. |

| Our fearless corps director, Dave St. Angel after a long summer. He thought he was retiring after ‘93, but he came back for a few years starting in late 1994. |
| The audience had a view of the backside stands in the stadium which looked like this. This photo (and the next two) were taken by my brother at Finals in 1993 in Jackson, Mississippi. |

| The audience had a view of the grand finale that looked something like this. |
| Here’s another shot of Grand Finale from the audience perspective. |
| My view of the Grand Finale looked like this. I left my shoes on the field, as most age outs do, but boy did the march back hurt! We marched through a gravel parking lot. Yow! |
| I had to take a picture of my then girlfriend (now my wife) Jessi while we were in Finale. |
| This is a screen capture from the DCI Legacy DVD’s that shows the mellophones marching towards the back of the field in Fire of Eternal Glory. Jessi is the short mello player at the bottom of the circle, nearest the helmets. |

| This is another screen capture from the DCI Legacy DVD’s that shows the bari/euph line at the end of Fire of Eternal Glory. The guy in front is Jason “Chief” Rodgers, a fellow 2nd euphonium. The guy in the background behind his right glove is me. |
