Mr. Pond’s Mitchell is painted as the wartime “Mitch the Witch”. It is one of the most flown warbirds in the Pond Collection having appeared in the Mel Gibson movie “Forever Young” and “Pearl Harbor.” She came to Mr. Pond after spending a large majority of her life as a fire bomber.

She’s not the real “Mitch”, but is painted to look like it. The pilot of the original “Mitch” has signed the nose art.
Grumman F7F-3 Tigercat
Mr. Pond’s Tigercat is one of about twelve that survive from roughly 350 that were built. She never saw combat, but spent several years as a firebomber before a belly landing relegated her to a parts source. She was rebuilt and restored by Steve Hinton’s Fighter Rebuilders. She has been named “King of the Cats”.
On the ramp in May, 1995 - This photo was taken during our Memorial Day Air Display during the first season she spent with us. This was the final piece to complete Mr. Pond’s collection of Navy Cats. He now owns a Wildcat, a Hellcat, a Bearcat, and this Tigercat.

Beechcraft T-34 Mentor
The museum had one aircraft that had been completely restored by the volunteers. This is it. The mentor is based on the popular Bonanza, and is still in use today, although with a much more powerful turboprop engine.
